The Katherine Region includes many people living in remote locations with diverse cultures and lifestyles.
GYRACC embraces a celebration of and respect for cultural diversity and recognition of the region’s unique Indigenous demographic.
We are underpinned by a ‘two way’ learning philosophy. That is we reflect and tell the stories about the unique cultures of the Katherine Region including those that have developed from Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives.
GYRACC aspires to become a ‘model for reconciliation’ in the community through the presentation of exhibitions and performances of Indigenous and non-Indigenous cultural expression together.
The purpose of our organisation is to develop and professionally manage the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre, to promote and nurture the arts and cultural identities of the Katherine Region and its people.
Our vision is to build a stronger Katherine Region and connected community through the recognition of our separate and shared histories and the living of our cultures today through our art, learning programs and celebrations.
