What do you do when you are over 60 years old, can’t stop dancing, and love travelling?

Led by David McMicken AM, co-Artistic Director of Tracks Dance, the group of 20 women (and two men!) who are all well over their 60’s, will perform a smorgasbord of their favourite hits alongside a work by Darwin’s celebrated choreographer, Joanna Noonan.

Tracks, Darwin-based multi-awarded dance company, has a long relationship with the Grey Panthers, which started as a dance group in 1988 and which embodies Tracks’ belief in dance as a whole-of-life activity. Caravanis a not-to-be missed opportunity for Katherine audiences to experience the raw emotions brought by these “storytellers of a unique kind, with a punchline that would make many a listener blush” (Joanna Noonan). Caravanis an exploration of their world, of those who grew up families on this land we call the Territory, and the Grey Panthers will be joined by some of Katherine’s own dancing talent, young and old.

The performance will be the culmination of a week-long residency of Tracks in Katherine with workshops held across the community, featuring Tracks Dance Animateur Kelly Beneforti, who was last in Katherine in September 2016 for the WOW Women of the World Festival. Following the show will be an afternoon tea for the audience to share a chat with the Grey Panthers.

Caravanreceived support from the Australia Post Our Neighbourhood Trust, the Regional Arts Fund through Arts NT and the Office of Women’s Policy.
