June 2023 – Australia’s Newest Outdoor Stage Appears
We have welcomed the Dry Season and burned off the wet, and the crew at Katherine Constructions have given us a solid foundation for growth—with Australia’s newest outdoor stage growing from our grounds. The new Godinymayin amphitheatre is taking shape as you read this, audience seating has been carved out of the adjoining hill, and a brand new technical production room and toilet block hare rising off the East side. The Arts Trail expansion is truly inspiring.
All this wonderful future infrastructure is making us think about how we’ll activate it come the 2024 Dry Season. The team at Godinymayin welcome your input, event suggestions, and ideas for what we might present. How about a series of singer-songwriter concerts and live music offerings? What about a free outdoor cinema under the stars? Maybe we plan some large-scale spectacles, festivals, or even long-table dinners on the stage? Tell us what you think might be good for Katherine, and we’ll start planning a creative next year.
Later this month, for about three weeks, the construction will require a public closure of all facilities. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding, and will re-open as soon as the builders give us the go-ahead. Here’s to a wonderful, happy, creative Dry!
