Key information for Youth Entries

1. The Katherine Prize now accepts 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional work in a range of media. We are unable to accept audio visual work, performance art or installation pieces.  

2. Artist’s name and title must be clearly labelled on back or underside of artworks

3. We actively consult and communicate openly with members of the local Indigenous community in order to establish Indigenous cultural perspectives on all exhibitions, particularly regarding the presentation of images and voices of Indigenous people. Your work may be subject to cultural consultation and approval.

4. Works will be judged in the following categories:

  • Junior School       Kindergarten – Year 5  |  $50
  • Middle School       Year 6 – Year 9  |  $50
  • Senior School       Year 10 – Year 12  |  $100

5. One entry form per person

Key dates

Entries close 5pm Friday 5th July 2019. Forms must be submitted by this time for work to be included.

All work must be delivered in business hours between Monday 8th July – Friday 12th July 2019.

Works cannot be accepted earlier due to storage restrictions.

Conditions of youth entry - Please read carefully

1. Collaborative entries are eligible, given all participating artists in the group fulfil the Conditions of Entry.

2. Entrants must be residents of the Katherine Region and be no older than 18 years.

3. Entries must be the original work of the exhibitor and have been completed during the 12 months preceding July 2019.

4. Entrants may submit a maximum of one Individual and one group entry.

5. The entrant shall be responsible for all freight charges to and from the exhibition.

6. The entrant shall be responsible for all insurance of work whilst in transit.

7. All art works must be framed ready for hanging with instructions if necessary.

8. Entries must be clearly marked or tagged with the title, artist’s name, age, date of completion and address.

9. Artists will be placed into categories according to their year group.

10. All entrants shall allow their work to be reproduced by Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre and the media for promotional purposes only.

11. Entries must be packed securely for transit and in a manner suitable for safe repacking.

12. The judge will be the sole arbiter.

13. Any conflict arising out of or in connection with the foregoing conditions of entry will be decided by the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre whose decision shall be final.

14. Entries must not exceed 1.5m in any direction.

15. All work must be collected within 7 days of the exhibition finishing on 7 September 2019. Any uncollected work will be disposed of in accordance with the NT Disposal of Goods Act.

All completed entry forms must be delivered to Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre, Stuart Highway, Katherine East, by Friday 21 June 2019.

Artwork must be delivered to Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre, Stuart Highway, Katherine East between Tuesday 9 July and Saturday 13 July 2019 in business hours.
