Looking for an informal (and free) opportunity to catch great local music and celebrate the coming of the Dry Season with friends and creative community? Well, Godinymayin has got you covered as we kick off our Live in the Gallery music series after work on Friday 8 April.

Our bar will be open right after quitting time, and ready to welcome you to the weekend. Katherine favourite Kate Oliver will hit the scene—joined by singer and guitarist Allison Forbes—to serve up some down home country and folk tunes. So invite a few friends and stay awhile—for songs about the Outback, stories from the road, and superb music-making at the very heart of our cultural centre.

“There are no tickets to buy, and no bookings to be made,” says Chief Executive Eric Holowacz. “It’s casual, and all you need to do is mark your diary and join us at 5:30pm on Friday for the return of Live in the Gallery with Kate Oliver and Allison Forbes!”

A Katherine favourite, Kate Oliver returns to Godinymayin to open our Live in the Gallery series for the 2022 Dry Season. The Australian-born country and folk artist sings with the depth and beauty of the Katherine River, evoking the lifeblood of the town she calls home. Oliver is a traveler and no stranger to the Australian highway. With her music, she has made her way all over outback Australia while working, sharing stories, writing songs, and performing. From roadworks camps across the Tanami and Plenty Highways to the seaside havens of the New South Wales coast, Oliver has charmed small venues, back porches, and campfire crowds. With guitar in hand, she is always ready to regale her audience with universal tales of life, special places, and love. Her music is immersed in the feeling of the Australian bush, driven by the cadence and bounce of her beloved truck over long and dusty corrugated roads. Accompanied by singer/guitarist Allison Forbes, Kate Oliver’s rich and earthy voice and nostalgic delivery will fill the Godinymayin gallery this Friday after work. Stop in and let them take you on a journey through the raw back country and rich landscapes—and begin your weekend with the start of our wonderful free music season!
