Self Portraits

An exhibition by St Josephs Year 9 and 10
Category: Drawing
Registrations for this event have closed.

As part of their first project of Term 1, students at St Joseph’s were tasked with creating their own visual language, to design their very own self-portraits. The project allowed them to express their own personal narratives and identities through the use of symbols and marks.

The students were encouraged to use mixed media and any medium of their choosing, giving them the freedom to experiment and explore their creativity. Some incorporated symbols and marks they had designed previously, while others included passages and quotes from their favorite books and films.

As part of the project, the young artists were asked to reflect on their work and provide insight into their practice and study. They were encouraged to think deeply about the meaning of their artwork, what they had expressed through it, and what obstacles they had overcome. They also reflected on what they had learned from the project and how they could apply this to future artwork or their lives in general.

Explore the creative minds of the young artists who created these portrait.

The self-portraits are on display at Godinymayin until 3 June 2023.
