Still In My Mind

A collaborative exhibition exploring the Wave Hill Walk Off through Gurindji eyes, Artback NT presents Still In My Mind: Gurindji location, experience and visuality.
Category: Multi disciplinary
Registrations for this event have closed.

Inspired by the words of revered Gurindji/Malngin leader Vincent Lingiari, ‘that land… I still got it on my mind,’ Still in my mind reflects on events preceding and following the Gurindji Walk Off, a seminal event in Australian history that continues to resonate half a century later. The exhibition encompasses photo-media, video and performative installation, paintings, works on paper, and found objects.

Still in my mind is an Artback NT Touring Exhibition curated by Brenda L Croft, developed in partnership between UNSW Galleries, UQ Art Museum and Karungkarni Art and Culture Aboriginal Corporation, with support from Visions of Australia, Australian Research Council Discovery Indigenous Award, National Institute for Experimental Arts, ARC Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language and the Berndt Research Foundation.

Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre’s exhibition and gallery sales are bound by consignment agreements developed with Arts Law Centre of Australia. We follow ethical standards and practices when dealing with Aboriginal art and artists.
