Registrations for this event have closed.

Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre begins 2023 with a contemporary exploration of Top End bird life by Katherine artist Mandy Tootell, who returns to our Lambert Gallery with a new collection of works called Territory Blue. The exhibition is a celebration of the forms, colours, and presence of birdlife in the Big Rivers Region and beyond. Visitors will gain new insight into the diversity and features of our avian residents, and find a new appreciation for the birdlife that surrounds us.

Although primarily a printmaker, Tootell’s latest exhibition blends a fascination with floral fabrics, free motion stitching, and painting to create striking representations of the Territory’s bird species—set on decorative backgrounds and presented with charming effect. Almost three dozen new works will be featured, and all will be for sale to the public during the Godinymayin exhibition.

Mandy Tootell’s collection of mixed media artworks, Territory Blue, will be presented in the Lambert Gallery from 30 January to 17 March, with an opening reception on Friday 27 January from 6pm.
