The textile works celebrate a fusion of traditional plant knowledge, contemporary dyeing and printing techniques with stories and print designs from country.
Large lengths of silks are dyed with bush dyes and printed with designs that represent the bush tucker plants, animals and stories from Mangarrayi country. The bush dyes used to dye fibres for basket weaving throught the Northern Territory are strong and vibrant, producing red, orange, yellow, black, brown and purple and are made from leaves, roos and fruits from local plants.
