If you are looking for an enchanting performing arts event that is fun for the entire family: this is it! Trash Magic will transform the Godinymayin stage through the magic of blacklight theatre and an all ages puppet show about family, nature and mess! Don’t miss this fantastic show when it comes to Katherine—theatre for all ages, magical settings and creatures, and a story for everyone!
Ruby, a girl who is deaf, goes camping with her family in the bush. She may not be able to hear the sounds of nature, but she can see and feel the beauty around her. Ruby’s family love to have fun—they make mess, as much mess as they possibly can! This is not Ruby’s idea of fun and she signs in Auslan to tell them just that. Later that night Ruby wakes up to see that the rubbish is alive! It has magically transformed into the different animals of the bush—and a magical time unfolds with blacklight puppetry, an adventure for Ruby, and a lesson of about how caring for the environment can reunite you with the ones you love.
This delightful project is presented by Artback NT and Luminous Productions, an all-abilities theatre company based in Darwin with an artist ensemble of multi-skilled performers of all abilities. Godinymayin is proud to again partner with Artback NT, a Territory-wide organisation that works with artists of all kinds to develop and tour their work to local, national, and international audiences.
CONTENT WARNINGS: Trash Magic is suitable for children, but please note that much of the show occurs in dark conditions.
